dc.description.abstract | The dairy industry in Uganda faces numerous challenges, one of which is the high cost associated with fossil fuel-driven milk cooling processes at locations without grid electricity. In this paper, alternative renewable energy sources, including solar and biogas, are compared to the existing diesel generator power source for a 3,000 L-capacity plant. Based on several economic indicators, the solar (evacuated tube) source coupled to an absorption refrigeration unit was found to be the most economical alternative for southwestern locations | |
