Abstract
This study explored the effect of training on employee performance in Public corporations, a case of NWSC. The research was guided by the specific objectives; to examine the effect of coaching , mentoring and workshop training on employee
performance in public corporations. The study employed a cross sectional research design where both qualitative and quantitative
approaches were used with the study sample size of 60 respondents. The study used purposive sampling and simple random
sampling methods in selecting of the respondents. Data collected was analyzed using SPSS. The average mean coaching was got to be 3.47 interpreted as very effective; this implies that coaching influences employee. On mentoring, an average mean of 3.12 was got interpreted as effective, The training workshops had an average mean of 3.57 interpreted as very effective this helps
employees in acquiring skills and knowledge and this helps them improve on their performance. The study recommended the
provision of capacity building to the technical staff ,ensure motivation of employees and offer training collectively but not
selecting departments and leaving others so as to ensure that all the staf acquire necessary skills.
