Item Contract Documentation and Education Sector Service Delivery in Masaka District Local Government, Uganda.(International Journal of Academic and Applied Research (IJAAR), 2022) Nduhura, Twesigye; Kanyamasoro, Muhire; Kiiza, Mark; Nakalanzi, Beatrice JulietThis study explored the relationship between contract documentation and education sector service delivery in Masaka DLG. This was based on the hypothesis that contract documentation as a component of contract management has a significant association with and influence onto service delivery. The research was carried out in Masaka DLG. Out of the study population of 140 respondents, a sample of 103 was selected. A response rate of 85.4% was realized for generalization of the research results. The data was collected using self-administered questionnaires. Basing on the objective of the study, descriptive, correlation and regression analyses were carried out. The results indicated that the practice of contract documentation process is averagely existent in the operations of Masaka DLG procurement unit and is reported to have a very strong association with education service delivery at the district (r = 0.645) which is statistically significance (p ≤ 0.01). Additionally, the contract documentation process influences up to 41% of the changes in education service delivery at the district. Basing on these results therefore, it is recommended that the contract documentation processes in Masaka DLG be improved so that education service delivery can be enhanced in the district.Item Corporate Governance and Financial Performance in the Manufacturing Sector: A case of Uganda Clays Limited, Kajjansi Branch(Corporate Governance, 2022) Nduhura, Twesigye; Nansamba, Ritah; Akakikunda, Teddy; Masembe, MuhammadThe study sought to examine the effect of corporate governance on financial performance in the manufacturing sector, a case of Uganda Clays limited. The study objectives were; to examine the effect of corporate planning on financial performance in the manufacturing sectors, to determine the effect of corporate staff control on financial performance in the manufacturing sectors and to find the effect of corporate accountability on financial performance in the manufacturing sectors. The study was guided by theAgency Theory by Alchian and Demsetz (1972) and Business Ethic Theory by Haslinda and Benedict (2009). The research employed a cross-sectional survey design by adopting both qualitative and quantitative approaches. A sample of 76 from a population of 98 was considered for data collection using both primary and secondary data sources. From the study findings, the study showed that corporate accountability has beta values of 0.602 and significance of 0.001. This shows that in this study, corporate accountability has a high positive and significant effect on financial performance at 60.2% at the level of significance 0.001. Also, findings from table 4.19 above study showed that corporate staff control has beta values of 0.364 and significance of 0.065. This shows that in this study, corporate accountability has a second contribution with a positive and insignificant effect on financial performance at 36.4% at the level of significance 0.065. Furthermore, findings from table 4.19 above study showed that corporate planning has beta values of -0.126 and significance of 0.434. This shows that in this study, corporate planning has the least contribution with a negative and insignificant effect on financial performance at -12.6% at the level of significance 0.434. The study recommended that the corporate board of UCL need put more emphasis on ownership and responsibility for corporate planning process especially at corporate strategy level. It can be recommended that UCL’s board makes corporate planning as one of their key deliverable outputs in the board’s terms of reference so that its performance can be measured against this task at the end of every year. It can also be recommended that each board, during its term in office be trained on how to handle corporate planning for the cooperative society.Item Examining Head Teachers’ administrative Practices and Students’ Discipline in Africa: Empirical Studies among Selected Secondary Schools of Ntungamo District in Uganda(International Journal of Academic Multidisciplinary Research (IJAMR), 2022) Christiana, Toriola Funke; Nduhura, Twesigye; Natamba, Shadrack; Wilcky, Baker AinebyonaThe study was conducted to examine the Head Teachers’ administrative practices on students’ discipline in selected secondary schools in Africa with empirical studies from Ntungamo District in Uganda . Both descriptive research design and correlational research design were employed. A sample size of 348 participants was recruited for the study. The major findings indicate that Head Teachers’ administrative practices influence students’ discipline by about 57.4%, according to (R Square = .574). Additionally, school rules and regulations, guidance and counselling, and students’ council body had significant influence on students’ discipline while head teachers’ means of communication did not show any significant influence on students’ discipline. In conclusion, Head Teachers’ use of guidance and counselling was found to have influenced students’ discipline the most. The study therefore recommends that the head teachers should adopt proper and timely communication strategies for the enhancement of students’ discipline at the school assembly and reassuring constant feedback and, above all, an open-door policy should be encouraged and use of suggestion boxes and notice boards should be put in use. Also, other administrative practices of Head teachers’ school rules and regulations, Head teachers’ means of communication and Head Teachers’ use of student council should be fully employed by the heads of schools to supplement guidance and counselling such that there is an aggregative mass of effort on students’ discipline.Item Health Care Financing and Health Service Delivery in Public Hospitals during Covid-19 Lock down: A Case of Lyantonde Hospital(Health Care, 2022) Nduhura, Twesigye; Nansamba, Ritah; Akakikunda, Teddy; Masembe, MuhammadThe study examined the effect of health financing on health service delivery in public hospitals, a case of Lyantonde Hospital study the above general objective, the following specific objectives were adopted; to determine the effect of government financing on health service delivery in public hospitals; to examine the effect of donor financing on health service delivery in public hospitals; to find out the effect of out-of-pocket financing on health service delivery in public hospitals.The study employed a correlation design to establish the underlying effect/relationship among study variables and a case study design to obtain information, and opinions from a large group of people in order to describe some characteristics of a phenomenon. Both qualitative and quantitative methods will be used in order to reduce bias. Quantitative approaches were adopted when sampling, collecting data, Controlling data quality and in analysing data. Qualitative approach will be helpful in interpreting people’s thoughts, opinions and perceptions about Health sector financing and health service delivery. The qualitative data gave a narrative and descriptive information that will explain and give deeper understanding and insight into a problem .The study used both primary data sources and secondary data sources to enable the researcher meet the study objectives. Qualitative data was obtained from open ended questionnaires and by conducting interviews with other respondents to provide additional information to study problem. Quantitative data dealt with numbers and anything that was measurable in a systematic way of investigation of phenomena and their relationships. JohnThis study explored the effect of training on employee performance in Public corporations, a case of NWSC. The research was guided by the specific objectives; to examine the effect of coaching , mentoring and workshop training on employee performance in public corporations. The study employed a cross sectional research design where both qualitative and quantitative approaches were used with the study sample size of 60 respondents. The study used purposive sampling and simple random sampling methods in selecting of the respondents. Data collected was analyzed using SPSS. The average mean coaching was got to be 3.47 interpreted as very effective; this implies that coaching influences employee. On mentoring, an average mean of 3.12 was got interpreted as effective, The training workshops had an average mean of 3.57 interpreted as very effective this helps employees in acquiring skills and knowledge and this helps them improve on their performance. The study recommended the provision of capacity building to the technical staff ,ensure motivation of employees and offer training collectively but not selecting departments and leaving others so as to ensure that all the staf acquire necessary skills.Item Impact of Change Management on Performance of Employees at Omuntu W’omunda Child Development Centre in Uganda(International Journal of Academic Management Science Research (IJAMSR), 2022) Nduhura, Twesigye; Siraje, Kaaya; Masembe, Muhammad; Nturanabo, MameritoThe study examined the relationship between change management and employee performance in faith based organizations taking Omuntu W’omunda Child Development Centre as a case study. The study interrogated change management in terms of planning, implementation and evaluation of change management with an interest of finding out how each of these influences employee performance at Omuntu W’omunda Child Development Centre. In an effort to answer the related research questions, a cross-sectional survey design was used and a sample of 60 respondents was considered to respond to the questionnaires and interviews that were supported with 10 key informant interviews and documentary analysis. The empirical analysis of data followed non-parametric procedures using SPSS 20.0. The results indicated that, planning for change management has a positive significant relationship with employee performance results having r = 0.684, p < 0.001 thus suggesting that there was a positive significant relationship between the two variables. The implementation of change management had a strong, positive correlation with employee performance, which was statistically significant (r = 0.865, p < .001). There was a weak, positive and statistically insignificant correlation between evaluation of change management and employee performance with r = 0.367, p< .001. These results means that the dimensions vary in importance when explaining their interaction with each other. Consequently, the researcher recommends that planning for change in the organizations should be made as an integral part of the organizational wide planning; constant communication across teams using various channels is paramount to keep the entire team abreast with the change management process. Specifically, the study sought to: find out the relationship between external sourcing; internal sourcing; head hunting and Teacher retention in the private secondary schools in Nakawa division. The study used a cross-sectional survey research design, adopting both quantitative and qualitative approaches. The researcher used a sample of 122 respondents. Simple random sampling and purposive sampling were used. Methods of data collection were questionnaires and interviews. Pearson‘s correlation co-efficient was used to determine whether there is linear relationship between recruitment methods and Teacher retention in the private secondary schools in Nakawa division. Qualitative data were analyzed by quotation and paraphrasing. Findings of the study revealed that external sourcing; internal sourcing and head hunting significantly affected Teacher retention in the private secondary schools in Nakawa division. Basing on such study findings, the study concluded that external sourcing; internal sourcing and head hunting had a positive relationship with Teacher retention in the private secondary schools in Nakawa division. The study recommended that; the school Administration and human resource staff should make the recruitment message more appealing because it is important that the information in the recruitment message will be described more appealing; The Personnel Policy and Procedure manual of the school should be revisited so that it should be clear and understandable to everyone i.e. recruitment Systems should be put in place and be adhered to.Item Relationship between Career Development Programmes and Employee Performance in Local Governments of Uganda: A Case of Kanungu District(International Journal of Academic Multidisciplinary Research (IJAMR), 2022) Natamba, Shadrack; Nduhura, Twesigye; Christiana, Toriola Funke; Wilcky, Baker AinebyonaThe study established the relationship between career development programs and employee performance in Local Governments in Kanungu District Local Government. The study established the relationship between staff training and employee performance in Kanungu District Local government; determined the relationship between career advancement and employee performance in Kanungu District Local government and; determined the relationship between career planning and employee performance in Kanungu District Local Government. The study espoused a cross sectional research design. The study used a sample of 175 respondents who were both purposively and randomly selected. Data collection in this study was done using questionnaires and interviews. Findings of the study revealed a positive but statistically significant relationship between staff training and employee performance. The Pearson correlation revealed a positive but statistically significant relationship between career advancement and employee performance meaning that career advancement based on competencies of members of staff, provision of scholarship to upgrade their knowledge and skills, having career progression plan guided on equity and merit and career progression guidelines which stipulates conditions for promotion are likely to bring about better employee performance geared towards timely achievement of Town Council targets. The findings indicated a Pearson correlation which showed a positive but statistically significant relationship between career planning prospects and employee performance meaning that having personal career plan, providing career advisory services, having career development plan and internal and external programs that develop members of staff as well as self- assessment tools would result into better employee performance. The study concluded that staff training, career advancement had positive significant relationship with employee performance in Kanungu District Local Government. The study concludes that career planning has a positive significant influence on employees’ performance. The study recommended that Town Councils understudy should regularly assess the training needs of staff before undertaking any training. To improve the performance of members of staff in Town Councils, career advancement should be based on competencies of members of staff, equity and merit and more scholarships should be awarded to members of staff to enable them advance career-wise
